The Swim Meet

Here is Will being a bad ass at the swim meet ... he won all of his heats and came in 3rd place. It is so awesome to watch him swim ...

Emma showed up and wowed us with her 3 year old swimming skills. She is now swimming sans floaties and can almost beat her Uncle Will in a race

When we got home we were both hot and tired from being in the sun all day. Champ talked us in to watching Eight Below with him so we cranked up the A/C and watched the doggies getting left in Alaska. Champ told me that he would not last if we left him at the neighborhood park for an hour much less Alaska for 175 days. We all cried ... even Atticus.

C - Career: Keeping out of the Blood Red Negative! But I'm covered in it anyway (We all are at CCMCO)

D - Drink or smoke: If the time is right, if the quantities are sufficient, if the smoke is not too harsh, both all night.

E - Easiest person/s to talk to: Michelle, of course, My sisters, Mom and a slew of friends and uncles and strangers and, in fact, dogs, and spirits, like Heapheastus, and Meet the Press, and blank computer screens, our blog, and foriegners with whom I do not have a very common language.

F - Favorite song/s at the moment: Ma Vie en Rose, Je ne regret rien

G - Gummy Bears or Gummy Worms: Which ever the fish are biting.

H - Favorite Hydraulic Mess: killing motors on teh 6-Pack sent the Pony Pump overflowing all over the place, and the motors were always hard to replace and we must have killed 5 or more. CFHI was messy too.

I - Igloo or I-beam Architecture: I-Beam for sure, because it's more forgiving in this climate of Global Warming.

J - Junk foods you like: Pop Corn, all types of candy, nougat, Toffee, Cake, ice-cream, cheetoes, french fries...

K - Favorite Korean Restaurant: The one outside the Camber Snooker Hall in Hong Kong

But there's driving to south tulsa too, and LA traffic jams.

M - My favorite Sport/s: To play: Boxing. To Watch: anything with mounds of money riding, nationalism riding, regionalism riding... hell, I'd watch Cricket between India and Pakistan, or Curling between Ireland and England, or Swimming between Australia and the U.S., or things like that.

O - One wish you have: To own a Natural gas Chopper (easy rider style)

P - Phobias: I'm a bit clausterphobic, but I still get into tight situations. Tightest and most eerie feeling in getting into the sand hopper at prograssive brass to fish out a piece of metal. No room, dark, and you're just waiting for someone to turn the pressure switch on and go byebye... how does one get the honors, by being skinny. One has to be lifted in by someone holding your arms straight up and dipping you in. Ever since, I don't like to go under houses much, in crawl spaces that is.

Blogger is misbehaving

I have been trying to post the pictures from our weekend ... the swim meet (where Will kicked ass!!!) and the dog pool party (where Champ kicked ass and Attie hired a maid) but Blogger is not letting me. As soon as I am able to I will share all the pictures with commentary.
Sue ... Champ was so proud of himself last night ... he slept right next to mommy and daddy and made Attie sleep on the floor, he knew we were proud of him. He even started playing with a tennis ball like a real dog but then saw his teddy bear and needed to start licking it, so the whole DOG thing was short lived. I am so happy that you were there for Champ's first (unforced) swim. The proof will be up soon ....

THE BEGINNING OF THE COMEDY ROUTINE

Squashpaw says: "People with low self-esteem should not even be allowed to talk."

Shoot them.

And Broken Arrow cannot be considered a beautiful place... it may be home to crackpots, and crackpots may consider it beautiful, but that's why they're crackpots.

Howard is not busy. He is lazy.

Howard has been driven to despair... no, actually it's distraction, by something I can't understand.

Broken Arrow is a penal colony!

You're supposed to be empowered by a 70 year old beating you... Well I'm not, but I'm happy for him.

Comments uttered by Will while watching music video's last night

"Who are those white people?"
"What are they doing?"
"Look ... I can do that!"
"What are they saying?"
"What does that mean?"
"Who are they?"
"Do they mean to be doing that?"

One Book For Everyone

--One Book that Change Your Life: On the Road (When I said I wanted to read it, Mom rushed out and bought it, and I think she soon regretted it.) Leaves of Grass.
--One Book that I've read twice: (I used to not consider myself a two time reader, but now that I think about the books I've read twice, there are quite a few) The book that made the most sense the 2nd time through: The Sound and the Fury (In the last pages, it suddenly made sense and I turned right around and read it again... In Miami, on a bed in a warm hotel room looking out on the ocean, with a Panther sitting on the other bed, all due to "On the Road")
--One Book I'd want on a desert Island: Give me a contaner full of paper and pens, and I'd write a book called 100,001 things to do on a dessert island before you die.
--One Book that Made you laugh: Breakfast of Champions
--One Book that Made me cry: Where the Red Fern Grows
--One book I wish had been written: The further Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll
--One book I wish hadn't been written: Mien Kampf is a good one.
--Currently Reading: nothing much. A little Nietzsche, some Nabakov in French, just Crumbs... they really are.
--Meaning to read: Innocents Abroad, some of the French books I brough back, Smuggler's Bible, more Dellilo, I even have a copy of L'Atlas Cloud, which is plummeting in value as the market is flooded with 2nd hand copies... I might keep mine and hope for a rebound, but it'll move very far down the list, and won't be read until I find myself, by coincidence, stuck on a desert island with nothing but the Cloud Atlas; in such a scenario I would write over the printed words.

As you can see, Attie is a Harper's Man

One book that changed your life. - A Prayer for Owen Meany
One book that you'’ve read more than once. - Gone With the Wind
One book you'd want on a desert island. - Learn to Swim Long Distances in the Ocean
One book that made you laugh. - Confederacy of Dunces
One book that made you cry. - Where the Red Fern Grows.
One book that you wish had been written. - Cider House Rules
One book that you wish had never been written. - all of those "red hat ladies" books
One book you're currently reading. - Bitter is the New Black
One book you've been meaning to read. - Kim Jong-Il: North Korea's Dear Leader

It may be time...

they say before you can start a relationship, get a plant, get a dog, and see what happens.....Will mentioned that there are a couple of pint-sized rescue poodle puppies to be considered.......

In the meantime, can I ask what I'm supposed to do? Keeping it alive is easy; loving it is easy; allowing it to pee in the house is easy but not acceptable; how is this going to prove I'm ready for a relationship?

I already sense tension.....just thinking about it...is that normal? Am I ready?

Proof

I know we talked about the movie Proof a while back and I just wanted to throw my two cents in. I thought it was excellent. Quite depressing I guess, but I thought Gwynth Paltrow did a fabulous job. Is a contender this year for an Oscar or was it last year? I think she should be nominated and maybe win. An, I love Hope Davis too.

Like living in a farm fairy tale ...

Will and I have been trying to post these pics since we took them in Paris. These are from Will's friend Giu's family farm house where we stayed for a night. Will will provide full narration in an upcoming post:
(Sue ... note the awsome shirt I am sporting ... given to be by my awsome mother-in-law!)
